Internship, at one time, was nothing more than an inaccessible enigma calling  from the heights of impossibility. But by grace undeserved I was given the opportunity to embark on the beginning of a divine purpose so much larger than myself. Two weeks into this internship I had opportunities to minister the love of Jesus on a weekly basis to a community lost and forgotten.

The community name is Sulpher Springs, but my partner and I believe that after the power of God transforms this place it will be like the Rose of Sharyn; like the Lilly of the Valley. On a daily basis I have the privilege of ministering the truths of God’s word to many people both near and far through prayer and communication. We help support  and hold up the hands of the Man and Woman of God continually by endeavoring to walk out the vision divinely imparted to them. T

his internship is a dream of mine being realized. I am pouring out of me what the Lord had sown into me even from infancy. I believe that I am walking out not only the call on my life, but putting my hand to the only cause that I have ever given myself too, and the only cause that truly matters. My one desire is that I receive from this the mind of God concerning the rest of the call on my life and the spiritual and practical wisdom to continue to minister not as I will but as he wills. “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God” Colossians 3:1-3

I was at a high school football game.  During the prayer, “Fill me with the Holy Spirit,” some friends asked “What are you doing?”  I got a total of 78 salvations at the football game.

I prayed for a women’s foot to be healed of chronic pain. The pain went away and she was able to rotate her foot and do things she couldn’t do before.   I was walking along one day and practicing the script and all of a sudden a man came out of nowhere and prayed the prayer along with me and got saved!!!  I also led a Muslim to the Lord and he was very excited and said he was going tell all his friends about it!!

This is my third day of going out on the streets.  Personal evangelism has always been very hard for me even though my husband is constantly winning people to the Lord.  During the last two days, I was able to pray with 5 people because someone else had stopped them.  However today, I was able to stop 3 people myself and pray with them.  It was so great!  I am no longer afraid!

I was in a nursing home soul winning and came across a man who the nurses said would not respond. I prayed the prayer with him and asked if he prayed the prayer. He squeezed my hand and began to cry.

Over the past three years I have personally gone from being a “chicken butt” to someone who is as comfortable with soul winning as brushing my teeth. There’s been a phenomenal difference! With extensive training, stepping out in faith and most importantly the boldness of the Holy Spirit, I’ve been able to do the work that we’ve been called to do in Mark 16:15, where we are commissioned to, “go ye into the entire world and preach the gospel to every creature.”

What a blessing! The soul winning tool that I’ve been utilizing, also known as “The Script,” has been extremely valuable in helping me accomplish Mark 16:15. I think most people just need a place to start and The Script is just that, a place to start. Then, as people use The Script as I have, they will see, that as they step out in faith and the Holy Spirit kicks in as The Helper, the work of our Father gets accomplished.

Originally, I was both hesitant and questionable regarding the use of The Script. I never thought the script would work. However, I was wrong. It works because it is the Gospel. I now have the script memorized. Currently, as I work in the call center with various calls, I recite the script over the phone and people are led to the Lord. Additionally, as I walk about in our community, since I have The Script memorized, I can utilize it at any time. Interestingly, after extensive practice over the last three years, it has now become a habit and a way of life. Just as if I would brush my teeth or comb my hair, Soul Winning is part of a daily routine.

The mobilization of the Body of Christ is necessary. Since The Script is a tool that works to accomplish this, we must utilize it. It is a God given gift and an opportunity to obey The Great Commission.

Being a part of The River at Tampa Bay Church and the vision that they, now we, have for souls has truly changed my life. Now of the ways my life has been transformed by this ministry has been in the area of soul winning. Prior to becoming a part of this ministry, I knew that soul winning had to be a part of my life as I loved God, I had to tell others about Him and His precious Son, Jesus and all that He gave to bring us, a fallen humanity, back to the heart of God. Though this was in my heart and I had gone out on a few occasions to “be a witness”, it just was not a form of lifestyle to me. It was just something I would do with my youth group one weekend of certain months.

After being enrolled into The River Bible Institute and taking a class on Soul Winning, a new passion for the lost grew inside of me. I began to win souls with the rest of the class and before I knew it, I was winning souls at the gas station, the park, the pharmacy, or just whenever I saw an opportunity. That was nothing like me. I was always very shy when it came to speaking to others about Jesus and His wonderful love for them. Now I have learned that God’s love is not for us to hold it in and only show it when we come to church to gather with other believers.

This love has been poured out for the whole world to know and receive salvation. The gospel is the very power of God so I now know that I can say like Paul said in Romans 1:16, “I am not ashamed of the gospel”.

As of recently the Lord has continued to break my heart for the lost and those that have not asked Jesus into their hearts. When I got saved, I didn’t know who the Holy Spirit was and about six months later did I actually hear about the day of Pentecost. I started reading the book of Acts and never thought that God could use me in the ways he used the Apostles then.

One Super Soul winning Saturday we all were grouped and my group went to downtown Tampa. In the soul winning class before we left, Pastor Daniel Mcgehee was encouraging us to believe God for greater things to happen, to believe God for salvations and signs (Mark 16:17).

So we went out on the streets and began sharing the gospel with every person we saw. We knocked door to door; we spoke to people on bikes and in cars. It was amazing. I was paired up with a fellow student and he saw this woman and began preaching the gospel. She was talking about tongues and how strange it was. He began telling her who the Holy Spirit is, how great it is to be filled with His Spirit, and the purpose and gift of speaking in tongues.

As he is sharing with her, I’m looking around and I see this sea of children around eight or nine. I thought, ‘Oh my word! All these kids are here and my friend is preaching to their mom. I’ve got to share with them also!’ So I gathered them all up and they all gave their hearts to Jesus. Then I prayed for them to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit and two of the kids started speaking in other tongues! It was incredible!

In the past few weeks, I have been pressing into soul winning as much as possible. In the training classes Pastor Daniel has been encouraging us to step even more out of our comfort zones and reach the lost as never before. To get results you have never had, you must do things you have never done; for me, this hit home. I have wanted to see more signs and wonders following the preaching of the Word, such as healings and people being filled with the Holy Spirit.

Pastor Daniel told us to believe God for things to happen on the streets like they did in the book Acts. I decided to run with that. I went out with a group of other students to a housing development to soul win and I saw the hand of God work through me in an incredible way. I prayed with a young boy to receive Jesus into his heart as his Lord and Savior and then proceeded to pray with him to receive the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. He immediately began speaking in tongues. After that, it was a ripple effect. I have been able to pray with people on the streets for healing, the Holy Spirit in their lives, and salvation.

I am so excited to be able to go out on the streets and win the lost and save them from an eternity in hell. People are the heart beat of God and I am able to be God’s hand extended to them. I have learned so much this year on how to use whatever bait is necessary to win the lost. I have no fear of sharing Jesus with someone because I am fulfilling the Great Commission and the Holy Spirit gives me boldness inside.

Soul winning for me has been one of the hardest things that I have ever done. It was so hard for me because I have had to get over myself time and time again. The first time I went out soul winning my group and I went the local mall in the parking lot and I didn’t want to talk to people because they were shopping. I hate to be bothered when I’m shopping so I didn’t talk to anyone. It was all about me and how I felt and not about Jesus.

The next time I went out my group and I went to a bus stop and finally things started breaking in my life. I went through the script with a guy standing at the bus stop. He was waiting for the bus so that he could go see his physiatrist because he was depressed. I went through the whole script and he wouldn’t pray. I tried with everything in me to get him to, and I was almost in tears because I knew deep down in my heart he needed to pray. I had never felt so much compassion for anyone in my life I wanted so badly for him to pray but he just said “I appreciate your conviction but no thanks”. So I said God bless and walked away.

Since that day I have led close to 1000 people to the Lord. Ironically it was the rejection that inspired me to press on. That was the day I realized that I had something precious on the inside of me that the world needs and that is Jesus. I have jumped on city buses, broken up fights, and basketball games all to preach to gospel of Jesus.

Soul winning is great thing and change forever not only person who receives salvation ,but it changing me personally over and over every time when I am preaching Good News , because of Jesus Christ who is real God and because of eternity!

Before I came to RBI I really did not know what is soul winning, I did not know how to lead people to the Lord. As a Christian I want to tell others about Jesus who He is and how good He is, but because I used my own ability just few by that way came to Kingdom of God. I did not know that the Word of God is the power for the salvation of everyone and I did not know that soul winning is the passion, not the program.

So, when I started last year winning souls the Holy Spirit showed me that he worked seven years on my own salvation. He showed me exactly when and where he started and how he finished with me that I finally surrounded to him. It shocked me and absolutely convinced me that soul winning is right and this is the God and His Word that is pulling people to Him, and we are just vessels that He is using to reach people to His Kingdom. I learned here that going on the streets is simple fulfilling Jesus words: “Go into the entire world and preach the good news” (Mark 16, 15) and we must do His Word, not only know about it!

The more I went on the street the more passion for souls and more holy boldness I got. I see lives changed right in the moment of receiving their salvation. I see those people coming to the church; accomplish the Word of God by bringing families and others to the church. I see how much they are blessed just because this ministry has a passion for souls and somebody obeyed God’s Word. I am amazed to see, what God can do to others when do what He wants us to do. It is much more to say about soul winning every moment of winning souls is a testimony. My spirit is always broken when we preach Good News in nursing and retirement homes is seemed that we arrived there on the last moment of people breath.

The soul winning change me forever and I can say: I am not ashamed of the gospel. (Rom.1, 16).

On Sunday, December 13, our church, the River of Tampa Bay, my wife and I helped out with a large outreach to the local communities of Tampa Bay. One of the tools our church uses to bring in the lost is our bus ministry. My wife and I have personally been soul witnessing on one particular route, route 3, almost every Saturday. The bus we were on serviced this route. As we were driving from the church to the bus route 3 area to drop off the local residents, I struck up a conversation with an older man. He had an interesting story as he told me about his family and the Pentecostal church they owned back in Tennessee and how he had gotten away from the Lord for many years while he worked for the circus hustling people. He said that he gave his life to the Lord in 2006 and gave all indications that he was saved. I began to share my testimony with him, about how God had brought me from a long way. I spoke of the goodness of God. I spoke of winning souls in his area. As we passed, certain areas I told him about the different people I had meet and seen saved. Street after street. Block after block. I noticed that he had a Spanish soul winning script and asked if he had an English one. He did and I asked him if someone had prayed with him using the script. He said no, so I thought I would do some training with him so that he might possible use the script himself. I went through the script and he answered no if he would go to heaven. I figured he was just working with me on the script. It was not until we were half way through the prayer of salvation that I realized for him, it was real. At the end of the prayer I asked him if he really prayed the prayer. He said yes. I presumed that he was either witnessed to either on the way to church or answered the alter call at church. Sometimes you just never know. Luke 15:7.

This past Sunday was amazing! It was incredible to see the harvest of souls come in, and being touched by the love of God, not just by the message – but also through the more natural means… a bag of food, Christmas gifts, and even a “hello”. It was awesome to see people, which we had gone out into the community and invited, at the River – responding to the altar call; giving their lives to Jesus. It’s easy to get into the mindset that we are just blessing these people, but these people are blessing us; after talking to a few of them on the streets, and listening to their individual stories, the things that they’re going through – and then seeing them, presented with the love of God that is the Gospel, hope restored to their eyes, is priceless. It’s what it’s all about.
I think that what Pastor Rodney and the River are doing is incredible. Setting the tone of what the church SUPPOSED is like. Not just keeping the Gospel inside the church, where the people who already know God come on Sunday’s – but taking it out into the community, bringing light into the dark places. Before coming here for Bible school, I had never been soul winning – but now that I’ve seen it, I’ve experienced it – it’s become such a passion of mine! The love of God is not just for the church or for a select few people. It’s for everyone. And taking the message of Jesus, to the streets, is for everyone in the church! It’s a rewarding experience, to have an outreach, like the one this past Sunday. To see the fruits of your labors right there before you. Laying down everything that they came in with, at the foot of the cross, and seeing lives changed right before your very eyes. Pastor Rodney understands this, and it is such an awesome privilege being able to serve under his leadership.
